Building websites is really one of the most rewarding ventures I have taken on. I have had web presence since 1994, but building other sites and blogs has kept me busy over the last two years. Even if you don't have anything to sell, you can create a site or blog with content relative to your passion. There are numerous places on the internet to post free blogs and there are sites that allow you to create a domain and website for a nominal fee. Before you begin, you need to determine what subject you would like to write about. It helps if ti is something you know a little bit about. You then need to go to sites such as www.blogger.com or www.godaddy.com and start creating your site. Both of the sites mentioned above are relatively user friendly. Once you have determined the subject matter, you need to create a name for your site, or a "domain" as they call it. As you get further into building your site, either of the sites I mentioned have templates to choose from to make your site unique. If you have products or services to sell, you can place this information on your site as well. You can add pictures also if you like. If you don't have something to sell, you can add content or articles, free from the numerous article directories on the internet. These articles are free as long as you give the author credit and don't change any of the content of their writings. Once you get your site built, you can add adsense from google to place ads on your site from other people selling similar products. Now you are wondering why would you want to advertise someone else? Well, every time someone clicks on one of these ads, you make money! Yahoo and MSN have similar programs, so it will be up to you which one you use. Once your site is completed, you can manually go in and submit your site to different search engines. This will eventually get your site listed. You will also need to add content on a regular basis to keep the search engines coming back to your site to post it. Try building a site or a blog today. You'll be glad you did! |
