Your Website Content Should Do One Important Thing!

Author: Matt Sherborne

Reinforce you as an expert in your field

Your number one priority should be to establish yourself as an expert in your field. This is best accomplished by providing compelling, useful and interesting information.

There is no greater method of marketing than word of mouth. How better than to establish yourself as an expert in your field to build a relationship with your customer.

You will become the source of information your customers seek. Giving your website viewers great content will enable you to become a trusted advisor. You can then profit long term from the benefits of a word of mouth relationship.

What 90% of Website Publishers Forget

I get a lot of emails from people that have heard how profitable websites can be, but have had no real success themselves. When I ask them about their goals, the replies are often quite similar.

I want to get as many people to my website as possible so they will buy my product.

Now in theory this might sound like a good idea, but it omits a very important point. Customers are drawn to your website for one important reason, to fulfill their desire for information. Many website publishers often fail to keep this important fact in mind.

Your website viewers have a lot of choices out there with very busy lives and limited time. Your website can be an incredibly powerful sales tool when you remember to first follow these three rules.

Rule #1 Always: Focus on the Content

Wasting the time of your readers is the quickest way to failure. Deliver interesting, concise and useful information. Get away from the countless self promoting websites and deliver content that your viewers will look forward to reading.

Rule #2 Always: Concentrate on Building a Relationship

The vast majority of website publishers have completely overlooked this very important rule. Give and you will receive. Set yourself apart from 90% of websites by focusing your efforts on building a trusting relationship.

Rule #3 Always: Be Yourself

You know that having a successful website is all about content and building relationships. However, that's not all it takes. To be truly successful, you need to follow up with your customers.

You can easily follow up by providing an opt-in newsletter. Let your personality show in your newsletter writing. No one wants to read boring facts or loads of dull information. It's your job to spice it up in your own unique way.

Just remember not to over-do the spicing. Keep it relevant, interesting and concise. Be yourself and you'll profit from your own successful website and email marketing campaign in no time.
