It is true that you can earn a good chunk of change by blogging. The cool thing about blogging is that it was originally created for journaling hobbyists and that's still pretty much how it works today, except that you can have fun and make money at the same time. And the best part is it's free.
The best way to begin your blogging career is to set up an account at one of the free blogging sites like Blogger.com or WordPress to name a couple and your off and running. Most sites offer a variety of options that allow you to customize your blog anyway you see fit. You can change your blog layout and color by trying different templates and many allow you to use HTML and linking options to further customize your blogs look.
One thing you need to think about either before or while you are setting up your blog is what you want your blog to be about. Pick a subject you are knowledgeable about or something that's always interested you but you never had the time to research and learn about. Then you can share your experience with the world and make money doing it.
Once you have your subject picked out and have begun posting to your blog the easiest way to monetize it is to use Google Adsense. Very simply Google allows you to place Adsense ads on your blog that are related to your subject matter and every time someone who visits your blog clicks on an Adsense ad you make money.
Another way to monetize your blog is through affiliate programs. There are several large affiliate networks on the internet today and through them you can find thousands of merchants selling anything and everything. By placing a link to these merchants on your blog you can get a sales commission for anyone who clicks through to that merchant through your link. If your blog subject is conducive to particular products you can use your blog to recommend products from the merchants you represent. The more you blog the greater your reach will be and the more your readers will come to trust your recommendations.
You can also combine Adsense and affiliate products on your blog thereby increasing your chances of earning money while blogging.
As blogging grows and evolves the opportunities to make money doing so will only increase. And nobody can say making money for no cost, except for maybe some of your time, is a bad thing. |
