Happiness ?C Our Real and Basic Nature

Author: Sacha Tarkovsky
People are always saying to 'be happy' or advising you 'how to be happy'. However, there is another school of thought which postulates that happiness of part and parcel of our basic nature. So we are always happy, just as gold is always that color, heavy and shines. Happiness is our basic quality.

If Our Natural Quality is to be Happy, Why Aren't We?

This is a question long considered by philosophers and great thinkers throughout the ages. It is demonstrated by a tale from Aesop.

Tale of the Lion Among the Sheep

There was once a lion that as young cub, lost its mother, and wandered into a flock of sheep. The sheep kept him, and he grew up as a sheep.

The years past, and when the lion-sheep grew, he had the same fears and reaction as all the sheep. He ate grass, and was shaking in fear when the lion's would roar in the forest.

One day a pack of lions were hunting and came upon the flock of sheep. They spied a lion among them, and called out to him. The lion-sheep was terrified, and trembled in fear, even so, paralyzed to move.

The leader of the pack ran to the lion-sheep and called out to him. 'Brother! What are you doing? How can you, a lion cower with the lowly sheep'?

The lion-sheep answered, 'Me, a lion? I am a sheep'. After a good laugh, the leader dragged the lion-sheep to a pool of water. He made him look at his reflection and also that of the leader's.

'I am really a lion! I am!' and from that minute onward he knew his true nature.

Fear Disguises Our Basic Nature.

We are disguised as sheep by our fear. Fear changes our basic nature which is courageous and always happy into something much less. We fear also most things which will never also come to pass. Fear, and her twin sister Ignorance, disguise our basic nature, even from ourselves

Come to the Pool

If you would be happy, and eternally so, you must come to the quiet pool of water and see your true reflection. There you will discover you not only happy, but are happiness itself.

You will throw off the illusion that fear and ignorance have given to you, and put back on you real garment of gold.

You don't have to learn to be happy. You don't need to develop positive attitudes and hear lectures on banishing negativity.

You are already happy, you are ever positive and your heritage is nothing less than all of creation. Discover your true nature, and all that belongs to it also belongs to you.

You don't have to 'be happy', you 'are happy' you have nothing to fear, and once you understand this, fear never visits you again.
